I am directed by r. Secretary narobust to inform you that, subject to your being passed by the Ledical Adviser of this Department as physically fit for service he proposes to select you for probationary appointment as an Assistant mistress in the service of the Goverment of hong kong with salary at the

rate of £200 a year. An all of $50 p.m. in providect for quaalers, but this all with cease on Marsiap. Privat liachip will be allowed, prended that it does host conflict with school dig. Your salary will be paid in the local

currency in the manner shown in the last paragraph of the accompanying print (sastern ho.121).

3. It is to be understood that your engage- ment is for not more than three years from the date of your arrimì in the colony; and that, if it is established to the satisfaction of the Governor that you are not qualified for efficient service there,

will, subject to the confirmation of the Secretary of State, have full power to cancel your appointment pity at any time within the said three years without

giving you any further compensation than a passage back to England, whion will be granted only if he is satisfied that you have, by your good conduct, deserved
